| Merlinwood is a modern bungalow set well back from the road on the outskirts of the small village of Kinlochewe, in a picturesque area surrounded by one of the most spectacular mountain districts in Scotland. |
|
|
Our accommodation
consists of one twin-bedded and one double-bedded room. Both rooms
are en-suite, with tea and coffee facilities, and with the added bonus of
wonderful views towards Beinn Eighe from the twin room, and towards the
Heights of Kinlochewe from the double room. We accept payment by cash, personal cheque, or
travellers cheques in pounds
sterling. |
|
We also have
a lounge for our guests to relax in, with a small selection of videos
available to view on those days when the weather is inclement or
television reception is poor.
We are a non-smoking establishment and are unable to cater for pets. There is ample off road parking available. |
| The village of
Kinlochewe is situated on the A832 which forms part of the Wester Ross
Coastal Trail, and is within walking distance of the Torridon Mountains
and Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve, the first of its kind in
Britain. Turn right out of our driveway along the shores of Loch Maree and there is the magnificent sight of Slioch (the spear) rising from the opposite shore. Continue along this road for nineteen miles and you will arrive in Gairloch with its sandy beaches, golf course and boat trips for fishing or to observe the dolphins and porpoises at play in the bay. Leave Kinlochewe in the opposite direction and drive up Glendocherty with the magnificent view down to Loch Maree over your shoulder. At Achnasheen you will have the choice of taking the right turn to Loch Carron or stay on the main road and you will eventually arrive in Inverness, fifty miles away. If you have the time, a train journey from Loch Carron (or Achnasheen) to Inverness will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. Wherever you drive, ride, cycle, or walk in this area, you will see some fantastic scenery, breathe wonderful fresh air, and meet friendly hospitable people. We hope you will come and visit the area, and look forward to welcoming you to Merlinwood. |
